National Conference on Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity in High-Risk Populations
The goal of the 3rd Annual Disparities Partnership Forum was to highlight promising practices that address type 2 diabetes and obesity in high-risk populations. Also, to introduce key elements of coalition-building for addressing disparities in healthcare at the community level.
The meeting was held November 18 - 19 at the Hyatt Regency in Arlington, VA. The keynote speakers were Dr. Garth Graham Garth Graham, MD, MPH, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Office of Minority Health, and Dr. Kyu Rhee Kyu Rhee,MD, MPP, FAAP, FACP, Chief Public Health Officer, Office of the Administrator, Health Resources and Services Administration.
A key feature of the 2009 forum was the presentation of promising practices that can be applied to community efforts aimed at reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes and obesity in high-risk populations, including youth and adults. It is our pleasure to offer a compilation of all submitted abstracts as well as the presentations of the 6 selected to present during the Forum for your review. Out of the 35 promising practices received, 34 were chosen for this compilation.
